Mars500

Back in 2007 in Moscow Russia, scientists began preparing a simulated manned mission to mars. First they wanted to test how the cosmonauts would handle the combined closesness of a little space cabin with the total  isolation from earth itself. The called it Mars500

So they locked the participants in a little room that simulates these conditions, complete with long delays when communicating by radio with "ground control".   The first test was for 12 days, the second was for 105 days. The current test began on June 3 2010.

On February 12, they reached "Mars"... the halfway point.

The planned isolation experiment is for 520 days.

and people wonder why I stopped reading fiction.
