Butterfly in a Jar

I bought one of these a few days ago, and it's amazing! I've had people tell me I'd better punch holes in the lid or it will die.

I think I figured out how it works... at first I was thinking shape memory wire. but then I realized that would be too expensive. Now I'm pretty sure it's attached to a VERY thin wire... it wiggles one wing on the butterfly, which causes the other wing to appear to flap as well.. An oscillator in the cap attached to a clever circuit for semi-random patterns, and touch sensitivity completes the illusion.
