Synthetic Microbe gets notice on copyright infringement

According to Neatorama when Craig Venter (on my list) included the names of all his staff, and a quote from James Joyce into the actual freakin DNA of a living cell that his team created artificially in a lab. One that can divide and grow on its own...he apparently committed a copyright infringement. He included the single line “To live, to err, to fall, to triumph, to recreate life out of life.”

Now I wonder, exactly what does the James Joyce Estate want him to do? Make the cells stop dividing? Perhaps count each one as a separate infringement? Perhaps go into each cell and and remove the offending passage? Go after Venter because he used a quote appropriately from a book he liked?

And people wonder why I stopped reading fiction.
