These cards are starting to show the potential of AR. once it combines with 3d mapping, these same cards will be able to do more and more interactions with their environment. Absolutely nothing prevents Nintendo from releasing more cards over time, that you could print out or purchase, and would then interact with the latest patched games. Of course, I'm thinking how cool they'd be to play with using AR glasses on a 3d mapped and skinned cluttered tabletop that is now an awesome battle arena.... but I guess the 3ds is ok.... for now.
